Essay on Graduation Speech - 582 Words

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, faculty, staff, graduates of the Class of 2012, families and friends. I tried to think of something profound to say today, but it may be too presumptuous to assume that my short life experience is enough to impart any great wisdom. However, I will at least share with you something that I have learned. As a brief disclaimer: individual results may vary; drowsiness and/or dizziness are the most common side effects. Contact your doctor if symptoms persist. Wisdom is something of an enigma that cannot be achieved by the pursuit of knowledge alone. It comes from the lessons of trial and error coupled with determination, persistence and commitment. This idea can best be illustrated†¦show more content†¦The future decisions we make will be decided by the lessons of trial and error, advice and actions of our mentors and by the foundation that we stand on. I began my college career on three principles that I think apply to all of us. First is faith. For many of us it took a leap of faith to undertake the daunting task of completing or furthering our ed ucation. Those who have families, jobs or a myriad other circumstances took on the challenge undeterred and met it head-on despite the unknown. Second is hope, the hope that we might make our families proud and that we would succeed and live up to our greatest potential. Third and last, and the greatest of these is love. The love of our families and friends, the freedom that we have to learn about what we are most passionate about and the love of what we do. Being college graduates, Im sure there is also a special place in all of our hearts for the love of cheap pizza and large amounts of caffeine, without which we might surely have perished. School has been fun, and often it has not been easy because it has been a pursuit of knowledge that one day is sure to become wisdom. We have been challenged academically, physically and financially. Comparing Themes of To Kill a Mockingbird and A Raisin in...

To Kill a Mockingbird and A Raisin in the Sun are books both written during a time of racial tension and inequality. Harper Lee and Lorraine Hansberry lived through the civil rights movement and saw the physical and verbal harassment against African Americans. This experience is evident in both works as the theme of fighting prejudice shines through. The goal of this paper is to compare and contrast the theme in both books and how it affected both of the families. Also, throughout the paper I will examine the themes of innocence and fighting prejudice. In order to analyze each section thoroughly, I have divided my paper into many sections. My sections will include the summary of the book by Harper Lee followed by a theme analysis.†¦show more content†¦The Finch family comes under scrutiny as Atticus prepares to fight for racial equality, and the children continuously stand up for him. After Mrs. Dubose criticized Atticus for defending a negro, Jem decides to stick up for his father by cutting the tops off of her flowers. Atticus punishes Jem by making him read to her every day and later defends the woman after her death and praises her for her courage as she tried to fight a morphine addiction. The trial of Tom Robinson came and Jem and Scout had to sneak into the upper balcony to watch. Even though the lack of evidence clearly favored the defense winning, the all white jury found Tom Robinson guilty. After trying to escape the prison, Tom Robinson gets shot and killed. Even though Bob Ewell, Mayella’s alcoholic father, gets the outcome he wants in the trial, his reputation was damaged severely as it became evident he was the one who really abused his daughter. To get back at Atticus, Bob attacks Scout and Jem with a knife after a Halloween event. He breaks Jem’s arm and Scout is defenseless because of her costume. Just as Scout thinks she is surely going to die, a mysterious figure jumps in and turns the knife on Bob, stabbing him in the chest and killing him. This person carried Jem back to the Finch house with Scout following. It wasn’t until they got to the house that Scout realized her savior was actually Boo

Generation Gap Free Essays

The generation gap is the different generations have different views of the same thing with different ideal. Different environments to create different people and different circumstances produce different thoughts. The emergence of the generation gap in a family is the responsibility of parents and children, parents often complain that children now too do not respect their parents; the children also complain that their parents do not understand children, making the original and the happy family have strife. We will write a custom essay sample on Generation Gap or any similar topic only for you Order Now It contrary to the point of view for the parents, children have their new insights and cause different thinking ideas, behaviors, habits according to their parents. Parents and children have different psychological characteristics. Children have ideals and aspirations, vision of a better future, thinking broad, have flexible response, creative spirit, fast to accept new things, strong ability of adapting to the new environment and prefer independent thinking. There has strong sense of innovation, ingenuity, courage to break the stereotypes. However, the lack of social experiences their ideas easily extreme and deal with the problem is not calm. Parents were already undergoing many things, mature wisdom, character, maturity, and in interpersonal communication has a lot of experience. Parents see deep and thorough problem, but sometimes because of traditional attitudes, bondage of feudal ideology, ideological and stubborn, conservative, and so on. Besides that, the authoritative ideological heavier of some parents, assertive, requires children to unconditionally obey, so the children will be dissatisfied. For example, there is abundant energy of the younger generation, and competition, innovation, independent, unwilling to be controlled by others, giving a â€Å"bold and unconstrained† impression. In this regard, the older parents are not understood; feel that children had too much wind. Such deviation is bound on the understanding of direct impact to the attitudes and behavior of both sides, and both sides of the generation gap. If you both can do a role change, play the role of your opponent, to experience each others emotions, it’s good to change their views, to facilitate exchanges. In this society, the generation gap is a universal phenomenon, it hinders the thoughts, feelings and daily exchanges between parents and children and communication. If the children cannot accept the arrangement of the parents, the children also must be respect their parents, trying to communicate with them, talk with them to explain their ideas like this, sometimes parents and children are also able to reach a consensus. How to cite Generation Gap, Papers Generation Gap Free Essays Leo Tolstoy said: â€Å"All families are happy in the similar way and unhappy in its own way†. And happiness or unhappiness of any family mostly depends on relations in it. So many families so many family relations. We will write a custom essay sample on Generation Gap or any similar topic only for you Order Now Each family establishes its own relations in its own way. It has its own traditions and customs and its own unwritten constitution including rights and duties of every member of the family. They are also different in different families. So the problem of misunderstanding becomes urgent. Some people can it generation gap. And both sides (parents and children) should be patient and tactful and it’s the only way to settle down all the problems and stay friends. Youth is a very important period in the life of man. This is the time when a person discovers the world and tries to determine the place in the universe. Young people face lots of problems which are very important for them and do not differ much from those that once their parents had to deal with. At the same time every generation is unique. It differs from the one that preceded it in its experience, ideals and a system of values. The adults always say that the young are not what they were. These words are repeated from generation to generation. To some extent they are true, because every new generation grows up quicker, enjoys more freedom. It is better educated and benefits from the results of the technological progress of the time. Young people of today do not directly accept the standards of their parents who believe that they are right because they are older. The adults don’t want their values to be questioned. The young on the other hand can not accept the values of their â€Å"fathers†. All these differences generate a generation gap when the young and adult do not understand one another. As a rule the adults, dissatisfied with their own lives, teach the young how to live. Unfortunately, the adults apply old standards to the new way of life. They can not leave behind their â€Å"good old days†. This burden is very heavy. They think that the world is going down hill. They gloomily look ahead unable to understand the optimism of their children who want to pave their own way in life. The majority of the young people do not want to live in the past. They have their own ideals. They want to make their own mistakes rather than to listen to the warnings of the adults and repeat the mistakes of the older generation. They want to overcome their own difficulties without looking back. However, the life of the young is frequently determined by the adults. I think that parents will never understand their children. And children, in their turn, shock their parents with their dress, language, behaviour. Traditionally, young people were looking at their elders for guidance. Today the situation is different. Sometimes the young people share information and experience with their parents. I think that it is not bad, especially when the adults really try to understand what is going on in the lives of their children. Moreover, young people grow up so quickly that they almost do not have time to enjoy their childhood. So, as you see, it is very difficult to be young nowadays, as it always was. But you only can be young once, and some wonderful things can happen only when you’re young. So, it is be to enjoy youth while it lasts. How to cite Generation Gap, Papers

Systems and Constraints of Leverage †Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Systems and Constraints of Leverage. Answer: Introduction With the advancement in time and technology, various transformations have taken place in the field of healthcare. This field has not restrained itself from getting advanced by adopting changes in technology and also remain innovative. In this report, an automated system is proposed to designed for the organization Headspace. The organization provides mental related services. The proposed system is cloud-based and in this report, analysis of non-functional requirements along with adaption of appropriate SDLC approach has been analyzed. The system requirements are of three types: functional, non-functional and user requirements. Non-functional requirements are those requirements which pertain to system qualities like reliability, supportability, usability and performance. One of the key non-functional requirements is usability of the proposed system. The proposed system should provide an interface which will allow end-users i.e. staff, doctors, patients and other medical staff members to perform required tasks. Absence of any such non-functional feature may lead to issues which may create bottlenecks by hampering user interface of the system. Hence, it can be inferred that system usability should be maintained and include functional aspects. The proposed system should adhere to the design principles and must only provide simple local and global navigation (Lauesen Younessi, 2016). The proposed system should be reliable i.e. all data provided by the system should be accurate and correct. The organization cannot bear any loopholes in the system because the data is a critical aspect of patients (Chung, 2016). There is a set of data in Healthspace system patients data, doctors inputs, etc. which is required to be sent in correct format and accurate to the requesting users. Any incorrect information may have devastating results for the patients and alos for medical staff. The proposed system should generate responses without much delay because automated system is designed in such manner to be quick. There should not be any delays in data or request processing. Healthspace requires to respond to patients queries very quickly as they may pertain to emergency situations. Hence, in such cases, system performance has an important role in generating timely alerts and notifications (Malan Bredemeyer, 2010). Technical aspects of the systems are changing rapidly with time. There are new techniques available in the market which are highly dynamic in nature. Same may happen with the proposed system of healthspace. The involving infrastructure and internal system should support new technologies and be open for any advance modification. Hence, the system should have key elements of scalability and supportability on the system (Shaikh Misbahuddin, 2016). System Interfaces HEALTHSPACE must provide a responsive interface for users to remain connected The application should neither have too jazzy or dull colours but a balance should be created that gives a soothing feeling. The UI elements like text, buttons and labels must acknowledge user actions by changing colours, highlighting sections or using shadows. Different users prefer different colours and thus, flexibility would be provided for changing colour schemes (Fosse Delp, 2016). All elements in application must have consistency in layouts and colours. The application has several screens including login, health report and summary. These screens must not be loaded with navigation elements but have sufficient elements to move from one screen to other easily. Consistency needs to be maintained in the text including font, size and colours. The application would provide the summary of medical reports uploaded by practitioners and experts to the patients who would be able to download the summary as well as the customized reports DeviceInterfaces of Healthspace Patients would be able to exchange emails with medical practitioners using Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) There would be many file transfers between different entities or users which would be done through application using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) As all the application functions are dependent on the capabilities of the network, the network connectivity is important which would be established through User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). For supporting teleconferencing over application, various communication standards and technologies would be used including Real Time Protocol (RTP), JPEG2, and MPEG4. Patients would use medical instruments to update health records and thus, both should be compatible (Conde et al., 2010). Security protocols would ensure that information remains safe(Wheatcraft, 2010). System Constraints of My Health Record HealthSpace app would have a front-end that would provide the end-users with an option to interact with it. HealthSpace app would also have a backend that would be needed to store the bulk of the data and these would be done with the help of NoSQL and MongoDB. HealthSpace app would be processed through different testing activities that would be carried out and any bugs would be resolved and logged using Bugzilla. (Dettmer, 2016). Cloud based solutions would have a major impact on HealthSpace app. This is because the app would be deployed on cloud based platforms and would utilize several cloud based technologies to get up and running. There are in total three types of cloud based delivery models. These includes PaaS, SaaS and IaaS. PaaS stands for Platform as a service, SaaS stands for Software as a service and Infrastructure as a service respectively. In the case of this app, PaaS would be the ideal platform of choice. The app cannot be hosted on a SaaS model because the app itself is a service and it would either need an infrastructure and a platform. The reason to opt out of Infrastructure as a service is because infrastructure as a service is a complex platform and it would essentially involve hiring full-time experts and teams that would help get the infrastructure up and running and it would result in high up-front costs as well. As a result, the platform as a service is the perfect option for the app a s all the base hardware and the entire infrastructure in fact, is already setup, configured and secured at the same time. At the same time, there are two types of cloud; private cloud and public cloud. The key difference between the two is that private cloud remains entirely private and highly-secured and at the same time, public cloud remains exposed on a public cloud solutions provider. Hence, the public cloud is exposed with security issues and other vulnerabilities, therefore private cloud is the right way forward. SDLC is a practice of software development methodology wherein a set of guides, principles, techniques and methods are used for software development resulting in a robust and planned software development with minimal bugs. There are several different sub-methods already defined within SDLC, but majority of them can be classified into two: Predictive and Adaptive methods. Predictive SDLC Predictive SDLS is an approach which the steps and phases are pre-defined for the software project and they have no scope of alteration during the course of the project. All basis and procedures are already fixed. At the same time, patterns and behaviours of the project are predicted and estimated well in advance. In the case of HealthSpace app, the requirements are already clearly specified. With Predictive SDLC approach, the top level management would have all kinds of set processes to follow the guidelines for the project. However, a major drawback associated with the project mentioned previously remains wherein the project would not be able to handle any requirements inflations as the risk of the project may increase. Adaptive SDLC on the other hand is exactly the opposite of predictive SDLC approach and is also much suited for the HealthSpace app. In this approach certain ad-hoc processes are followed in order to execute the activities resulting in achieving of the objectives and goals laid out for the app. There is no particular flow in this given approach and simultaneously the flow needs to be designed as well as estimated based on the projects scenarios as well as requirements. The major strength of Adaptive SDLC is in dealing with the changing requirements of the project. So in the case where the requirements of the project keeps on changing or even in scenarios wherein its unknown whether the requirement of the project may remain still or may change in the lifecycle of the project, the adaptive approach would be better suited. Conclusions Based on the two approaches specified earlier, it can be made clear that the choice of method would be adaptive SDLC rather than the other one. This is because, HealthSpace app is a novel initiative by the government of autralia and there is a high chance of requirements taking new course in the future wherein it would not be a problem with Adaptive SDLC. Although, the downside with Adaptive SDLC is its high cost, it would still not be a problem because the initiative is backed by the commonwealth government of Australia thereby making it easier to flex the budget if needed. Leonardo DaVinci Essays - Giftedness, Age Of Enlightenment

Leonardo DaVinci Geniuses come few and far between in history. Hippocrates came in the late BC period. Einstein came in the late 1800s-early 1900s. Leonardo came in between the two of them, but is not recognized as well as they are. He was a brilliant human being. He was a master in the fields of painting, designing, engineering, and science. Most people know him merely as an artist, and some know him as an inventor, but not too many people know him for what he really was. This is because his life and his accomplishments are not taught, as in depth as they should be. During the height of the renascence, a genius was born in 1452 in the small town of Vinci, near Florence. He would become a great artist, engineer, inventor, and a scientist. His name was Leonardo, a name that would soon be associated with the word brilliant. He was born to Piero, the lawyer of the town, and Catarina, who gave Leonardo to his father, and left them both for a man of her social class. She is not mentioned in Leonardo's notebooks, as he was probably too young to remember her. Leonardo grew up feeling different from the other children. He had a strange curiosity that was lacking in the other children. He would buy birds from the markets, and set them free, because he thought it was wrong to keep them locked up in cages. He also had a strange curiosity about the world around him. He kept collections of "snakeskins, odd stones polished by water, birds' eggs, the skeletons of small animals, insects stuck on pins, tadpoles, and strange plants," in his room because they fascinated him. Leonardo would draw the things in his collection in a notebook. When his father saw the notebook, he thought that there was a possibility that Leonardo had a chance to become an artist. Piero went into Florence once a month on business and one time he brought some of his son's work. He showed it to his friend Andrea del Verrocchio. "He saw more than just mere talent in Leonardo" and almost immediately, Leonardo moved to Florence as Verrocchio apprentice. Leonardo never got married. From what is known, he did not have any children, either. I find this tragic, for if he had any children, they may have possibly continued in Leonardo's footsteps, and become great geniuses as well. Leonardo was so talented that after Leonardo painted two angels in the corner of Verrocchio's Baptism of Christ, Verrocchio never painted again. Soon after that Leonardo went on to paint the Annunciation, which was his first of only a few completed paintings. When Leonardo painted he generally experimented with new techniques, and paints, so once he finished perfecting the experiment he went on to another work. Leonardo's paintings are truly masterful. He made two copies of one of his first paintings, The Virgin on the Rocks. The first one he painted in Florence. The second one he painted for the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception. He was commissioned to paint for them. He felt he was not being paid enough to create a new painting. Therefore, rather than refusing to paint, or raising the price, Leonardo, smart as he was, suggested that he copy of The Virgin on the Rocks for them. Although the paintings are relatively the same, there are noticeable differences in the details of the two of them. Leonardo's version of The Last Supper is truly the best version ever created. "Artists before Leonardo had tried to recreate this dramatic moment in Christ's life, but no one had succeeded with such nobility and force." Leonardo depicted all the apostles with such personality and grace that all of their emotions and feelings were masterfully revealed. The betrayal is shown beautifully as well. Truly, no one has ever come close to surpassing the true genius of DaVinci's depiction of the Last Supper. Another great painting by Leonardo DaVinci is the Mona Lisa. This is his most famous painting. Mona Lisa was the daughter of a Florentine merchant. She is sitting with her hands folded, with a particular grin, which is seen in many of Leonardo's paintings. Leonardo's inventions were way ahead of his time. He created plans for tanks, helicopters, submarines, and many other weapons of war and machinery. He also experimented with flying, and although now one really knows for sure, many people believe that he was unsuccessful at this. For every recreation of his experiment has used materials that Leonardo didn't have

The Most Intelligent Social Promotion Tool Youll Ever Use - CoSchedule

The Most Intelligent Social Promotion Tool Youll Ever Use You + social automation have a love/hate relationship†¦ You love the idea of setting up a social campaign ONCE and letting it run on autopilot†¦ (while reaping the amazing benefits of a consistent, relevant, and timely social schedule) BUTlet’s be real. Your â€Å"social automation reality† looks more like: running to delete those 15 identical messages that just spammed your FB, Insta, and Pinterest audiences†¦ doing damage control when that poorly timed, â€Å"Why Prince Is Overrated† post went out the weekend of his memorial celebration (facepalm) †¦and working overtime when those â€Å"make life easier† auto-schedule messages trumped  your more relevant and timely campaigns. You see, here’s the problem: Most social automation doesn’t take into account the intelligent (or maybe not so intelligent) beings around them. They can’t react, recalibrate, or anticipate changes. They don’t KNOW  when to send messages (at the most optimal times) And quite franklythey’re just dumb. Which is why we created ReQueue, the only social automation tool with built-in intelligence. Say goodbye to spamming your audience†¦ Duplicate posts†¦ AND badly timed social campaigns! With ReQueue, you really can streamline your social strategy Cos’ unlike other social automation tools, ReQueue interacts with the rest of your social schedule. It takes into account everything you’ve got on the calendar, promotes your content at the most optimal times, AND recalibrates when you’ve got other campaigns going out at the same time (no duplicate efforts)! This Is The Most Intelligent Social Promotion Tool Youll EVER UseWIth ReQueue, you can: Set it forget it (with confidence).  Social automation is supposed to simplify your life (not add work to it). With ReQueue- the ONLY intelligent social automation tool on the web- you can set your best social messages on autopilot, and know with confidence your messages are sent to the right places (at the right time)with minimal effort. Automatically re-use your best social messages (without the manual work). ReQueue fills in the gaps of your daily schedule with real smarts, not  manual guesses! It takes into account your entire social schedule, uses Best Time Scheduling intelligence to promote your messages at the most optimal times AND intelligently finds the gaps in your schedule (so you don’t have to). Get more mileage out of your messages. The average lifespan of a single social message is mere minutes, so why are you only sharing it once? Craft your messages, add them to ReQueue, and let re-share them at the most optimal posting frequency. So, no matter what you’ve got on the roadmap, rest assured, your social schedule is always timely, always relevant†¦ and always intelligent. Set It Forget It (With Confidence) You’ve heard stories about #automation fails (or worse, experienced one yourself!) *Think Roomba + Dog Poop disaster circa 2016* And the worst part of the #automation fail isn’t necessarily the fail itself†¦ (although, ew†¦) It’s that someone PAID for something that was supposed to make their life easier. When in reality†¦ It only made things a million times more complicated. 😕 Automation is supposed to simplify your life†¦ (not add work to it) Which means the same sentiment should hold true when it comes to automating your social media! With ReQueue- the ONLY intelligent social automation tool on the web- you can set your best social messages on autopilot, and know with confidence your messages are sent to the right places (at the right time)with minimal effort. ReQueue:The Basics No one likes to page through setup manuals larger than college textbooks†¦ #snoozefest If automation is supposed to make your life easier†¦ it should be easy to set up AND even easier to understand how it works! So before we dive right in, here’s a high level overview of ReQueue (aka the basics) for you skimmer’s out there: Schedule social messages directly on your calendar. Add your best messages to ReQueue for reuse later on. ReQueue automatically fills gaps in your social schedule. ^^Easy, right? And now that you know the basics, let’s run through *exactly* how to set up ReQueue! 👠 How To Setup ReQueue Because automation should be all about keepin’ it simple here are the seven  (not one hundred million *cough*) steps it takes to set up ReQueue: Step One: Enable ReQueue on your calendar. Step Two: Select your sending frequency  (when you want ReQueue to fill in the gaps in your social schedule). Step Three: Decide message sending limits  (how often you want ReQueue to reuse a specific message in a month). Step Four: Select the social profiles  you want ReQueue to use and how often you want messages to send from each profile. Step Five: Create your ReQueue groups  (use these to organize your ReQueue messages into categories). Step Six: Add some high-performing messages to ReQueue. (More on that later). Step Seven: And finally†¦.set it and forget it! ^^Yep. Set it and FORGET IT. Because ReQueue is more than just an automation tool that’s easy to setup†¦ it’s also SMART. It talks to your social strategy, and then recalibrates! Which means you don’t have to constantly check in and make sure it’s still working correctly. Saving you time†¦ AND your sanity. #boom And now that you know how to setup ReQueue (knowing it won’t suddenly malfunction if you step away for two seconds) †¦you can *FINALLY* streamline your social strategy + focus on the important stuff (thanks to SMART automation that won’t let you down). Automatically Re-Use Your Best Social Messages (Without The Manual Work) Remember when you bought a tool that was *supposed* to make your life easier? But when you tried to set it up†¦ you quickly realized that this tool was NOT simple and the worst part†¦ It was NOT going to make your life easier. AKA the â€Å"automatic tool† you bought solve a problem†¦ Was going to require A TON of manual work on your end. *insert headache here* Which is why we created ReQueue a tool that actually  makes your life easier†¦ WITHOUT the manual work! How ReQueue Fills In The Gaps Here’s the three-step breakdown: ReQueue looks at your ENTIRE social schedule. ReQueue uses Best Time Scheduling (more on that later) intelligence to promote your messages at optimal times. And finally, ReQueue uses that information to intelligently find the gaps in your schedule + fills ‘em (so you don’t have to). Now for a little more info on Best Time Scheduling. ðŸ™Å' Best Time Scheduling is a tool that knows the â€Å"best† time to send messages based on when it will get the most engagement. Writing engaging, relevant, and meaningful copy Finding the *best* photo†¦ Assembling all your messages into perfect little packages†¦ And then scheduling them out to be delivered (with love) to each social network. But once you’ve sent them out They quickly  drop into social media oblivion (aka the very bottom of a newsfeed)†¦ †¦just hours or even minutes  after they are posted. The average lifespan of a single social message is mere minutes, so why are you only sharing it once? Well, thanks to your favorite social automation tool†¦ You can craft social messages, add them to ReQueue, and let re-share them at the most optimal posting frequency! (Pro tip: Make sure it’s  a combination of evergreen, original, and curated content to create a good mix). Having trouble figuring out which messages are your top performers? Head to your Social Engagement Report! Here you can see your top performing messages, what networks they were sent to, and which social profile was used, and easily add them to ReQueue with just a couple clicks. There are no limits or requirements to what messages you can add to ReQueue, so feel free to add new messages to ReQueue, too! As long as you create a good mix, you’re good to go. ðŸ™Å' You + social automation USED to have a love/hate relationship†¦ But with ReQueue†¦ You really can streamline your social strategy! Say goodbye to spamming your audience†¦ Duplicate posts†¦ AND badly timed social campaigns! Because now you’ve got  the smartest social automation tool around. So, no matter what you’ve got on the roadmap†¦ Rest assured, with ReQueue, your social schedule is always timely, always relevant†¦ and always intelligent.

Letter to the editor on school bullies Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Letter to the editor on school bullies - Essay Example First of all, this cyber bullying business is not an entirely new area and those who engage to the extent of driving a victim to commit suicide have perfected their skills. Cyber bullies are very persistent one they identify their victim and would not give the issue a rest until total humiliation or in this case death ensures. One of the perpetrators in her own confession says that she committed the cyber bullying which is the reason that led to the death of the victim but she does not care â€Å"yes I bullied Rebecca and she killed herself, but I don’t give a (expletive).† This carefree attitude does not simply come by a practicing bully but a fully accomplished one who thinks that she is immune to any repercussions based on her don’t care attitude. The fact that her parents seem to think that she is a sweet and innocent child only adds to fuel up her don’t care attitude without the realization that she can be charged with manslaughter of the victim. Seco ndly, cyber bullying is a social crime which inflicts pain on the victim emotionally rather than physically. Emotional pain is way harder to show on the surface than physical pain and hence the victims of cyber bullies suffer in silence and continue enduring the cyber bullies. Being a mother myself to teenagers, I understand the hard time the parents of the victim may be going through trying to come to terms with the fact that they did not help their daughter with her emotional pain inflicted by the cyber bullies. It is hard to read these teenagers and make them open up to their parents because they consider parents as enemies thinking they will not understand them. If only there is a way that parents can be able to know beforehand that their child is being subjected to cyber bullying, then they can help them put a stop to it no matter how long it will take and even put the perpetrators under the long arm of the law for justice to be served and to stop the bullying of other victims as well. I have in the recent past as a parent found it very hard to make my children open up to me as a parent about their problems. They however have friends and other people they trust whom they think of as secret-keepers and who understand them better than their parents and they share their experiences with. I appeal to such people today (since they are the only ones that know if a person is being subjected to bullying, what their feelings are and who the perpetrators are) not to stay hidden with the information and only come forward with it when it is a little too late. They need to break the code or oath of silence if there is danger of victimization and if whomever they are protecting can be helped by more qualified and professional individuals. Lastly I appeal to the parents of the bullies, please do not tend to support or justify the actions of your child when they commit such atrocious acts on other children as in the case of one of the perpetrators of Rebecca’s dea th where the parents are quoted saying â€Å"they feel that their daughter is a loving, caring and supportive young girl with many friends†¦

Theoretical Underpinning of two International Relations Theories Essay

Theoretical Underpinning of two International Relations Theories - Essay Example On the other hand, in â€Å"After America† Brzezinski looks at the imminent fall of the United States from being the leading power in the world (1). The writer focuses on which states are likely to take over from the United States, although he emphasizes that a unipolar world is no longer possible (1). There is also an analysis of how other states will react to the fall of the United states, for example, stating that most second world countries will seek to form regional blocks. Brzezinski is pessimistic about the future, without the United States at the top, and argues that power struggles will ensue between states, especially over regional politics (1). All the same, there is a correspondence between the two articles in that they both consider the future of international relations in the next ten or so years. In addition, the two articles point out the looming power gap that will be caused by the exit of the United States from the apex of global relations. Personally, Slaugh ter’s argument is more compelling since she gives room for non-biased assessment of international relations, after the end of the united state’s hegemony (1). ... argument, not because it is more liberal and thus more optimistic but because her assessment of international relations seems better researched, and the solutions given to the various problems seem more realistic. Considering Brzezinski’s argument, in comparison with that of Slaughter, it is clear that the theoretical assumptions between these two writers are different (1). While Slaughter views the next ten years using liberalist lenses, Brzezinski seems to be more oriented towards the realist perspective (1). Nevertheless, both articles seem to make valid points about the future of international relations as both concur that a unilateral system is no longer possible. This has helped me understand why there are so many countries on the rise, including China, Japan, and India. This phenomenon already tells of a multipolar international arena in the next 20 years. This is regardless of whether the world is viewed from a realist or liberalist point of view. Admittedly, the Unite d States will cease to be the super power in the next few years. This means that the United States will no longer be able to influence international policies. Therefore, it is important that the United States revises its domestic, regional, and international policies, in order to be able to with stand the impending change. Works cited Brzezinski, Zbigniew. Ownership in Foreign Direct Investment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Ownership in Foreign Direct Investment - Essay Example Some of these reasons are clearly envisioned in the case study on Genting International and includes the fact that transnational ownership give owners of companies the right and opportunity of benefiting from labor and investment laws that apply to both national companies and international companies. In the case of Genting International, because the company was based in Singapore, it had every right to participate in the bid if the bid had been opened to Singaporean companies alone. At the same time, the company was in position to undertake a foreign market entry as an international company. The reason that has made this situation possible in most cases is that the different owners who come from different countries have always registered parts of the company in their respective countries (Savior, 2009). When a bid for international companies arise therefore, it is the owner with registration in a different country who participants in the bid so as to create a foreign market entry. Ad vantages of the present Foreign Market Entry For Genting International and Las Vegas Sands who have own the two places available in the bid, there are several advantages that they are going to reap as foreign companies who have made investments in Singapore. The first of such benefits has to do with the fact that these companies are fortunate to be coming from an industry that could be described as relatively new in Singapore because of the ban on the operations of casinos that had been on the hospitality industry for a long time. Indeed, now that these companies are coming in with such a vast amount of investment, they are going to great a pioneering brand that would forever become a legacy in the casino industry in that country. If well monitored, this is going to be a major competitive advantage for future entrants into that sector of the economy. The reason for this assertion is that by the time new companies come in, these two companies might have had their names settling well with customers. They might have also created a very formidable organizational culture would be too familiar with their customer for the customers to change them. Without any doubt, tax moratorium that the two companies have ten years to benefit from because they are foreign companies is not something that can be overlooked as an important merit at all. In a recent research, it was discovered that 12% of companies that were liquidated in the United Kingdom from the year 1992 to 2002 suffered that fate because of their inability to grow beyond 2% a year (Gardener, 2007). Further investigations proofed that whereas these companies could not record 2% of growth over their total revenues, they were paying over 7% of taxes over their total revenues. In congruence, it could be said that these companies collapsed because of huge tax demands. This is certainly a situation that for the next ten years, the winning bidders are going to be exempted from. Clearly, the amounts of money that should have gone into the payment of taxes for all these ten years can be channeled to other sectors of growth, expansion and development. If for nothing at all, the companies can be investing these amounts in long term financial investment policies so that when they start paying taxes, they would not suffer any shocks in terms of decline of revenue. Challenges associated with the present Foreign Market Entry Genting International and

The Ethical Issues Faced In Business Commerce Essay

The Ethical Issues Faced In Business Commerce Essay There are a wide range of ethical issue in business, covering many professional ethics and perticularty relating to professional like doctors, lawyers and employee rights. Its rights Include fair wage, safe working envirnment and non-discriminatory policies. Ethical issue is also exist in sales and marketing areas in business. For example, it allow anti-comprtitive practices like price fixing and break copyright laws. Ethical issue in business is also importent to remember that companies should have environmental and ecological ethics. As depending on industry its simply ensuring that energy saving practices are used daily running an office, to ensure that pollution kept minimum, and investing in invironmental and much more in business ethics. It is quite difficult to know that any business across the globe, is based on princeples of ethics, but mostly businesses, in environmental and ethical information are puting together. By demanding these kind of characteristic and showing that to consumer is care about company ethics, and diferencies for any organisation can be made less ethical. Business Ethics and Profits Many believe that business ethics and profits do not go hand in hand, i.e. if a company tries to follow busniess ethics it has to forego a portion of its profit and on the other hand if company is aiming for high profits it might has to sacrifice on busniess ethics. But i dont agree with this statement, i believe that if a company keeps in mind the concept of business ethics and social responsibility while making the overall business strategy. A company can achieve its target profits and will also be able to follow business ethics. As business ethics will be embeded in the companys overall strategy and goals for every department will be set keeping to achieve the overall strategy of the company and as the companys main strategy was to make profits while following business ethics, this way profits and business ethics can be achieved at the same time. Business ethics can be profitable Ethics in business can not only be profitable, but it successful for any business, no matter how businesses are large or small. For example integrity and responsibility for its  employees, business establishes itself as trustworthy and engenders loyalty among not only employees but also customers and potential customers. Eethics and business almost sounds like an oxymoron. If we read the headlines we can see something like CEO involveed in corruption, and some illegal activities or Corporations harms the environment. Companys have the ruthless reputation and they just mak profit. It`s true because most profitable company has it mission to return profit to is shareholder. On the other hand it is fixed idea because it does not mean that ethcis and profits can not peacefully exist together. There are many organisation, which are ethical and profitable. If business do something unethically may be they can get financial incentives for short term, but overall damage of business can effect its integrity and reputation. Businesses are depend on confidenc, trust and respect which can receive from customers. If once break this trust, company must spend a money, time and resources to solve this problem. In first place good practices in business ethics is to avoiding issue in every part of the business operation, its not leads to the high profitable and its avoids the cost of damage which is not needed for the company. The most well-non company or other hand most successfull companies understand the importance of business ethics. While some companies do engage in unethical activities to follow the profit, in the long run we can see their demise rather than their success. They might attain some quick short term profits, but this isnt going to sustain them in the long term. What some profitable companies management fail to make a decision is that establishing a good ethical foundation in any organization can gives a company to increase their profits. Profits and ethics can be suitable and even one can improve the quality to another. There are many significant advantages to integrating a philosophy of ethics in business. While profits is important consideration there is no good reason ethics cant play a part of any business. Solid reputation In the businesses ethics are regulerly prectic to attract consumers. When businesses act in ethicaly, it gives good business impression and it result, can achieve a positive impect on business. Good press and word of mouth are positive direction and if business receive the stamp of approval from customers, news and reviews than it can increase chances to be a more profitable business. www.helium.com/items/1285540-business-ethics-can-be-profitable-sustainability-competitive-advantage Honda is one of the biggest Automaker company in the world, which has provided best example that a company can be profitable while following business ethics. How would I write a Native American History textbook? :: Essays Papers

How would I write a Native American History textbook? Why does one write a history in a book? Most historians argue that the events and beliefs of the past constitute who we are today: to understand current structures of society and government, we must devote ourselves to understanding the struggles, failures and triumphs of our forefathers. Yet as events and beliefs are recorded and transmitted, the interpretative bias of historians come through the pages of text-books. Interpreting the interpretations of historians is the vital responsibility of readers to develop critical awareness of bias, stereotpye and discrimination. I see two existing veins of intention in recording history the history of Native Americans: I can seek to either exalt the success of Western ways of life in describing the conquest and consequential transformation (â€Å"civilization†) of â€Å"primitive† cultures into a Western way of life, or alternatively, I can seek to enhance and rejuvenate the cultural realities of our own time by articulating the history of Native Americans from a different perspective and emphasize past and present connections. In crafting a textbook of my own choice, I would emphasize three major movements and intrinsic arguments in the History of Native Americans. First, I would deliver a clear and extensive history of pre-contact experience and culture. In describing Mississippian societies, western cliff dwellings like Mesa Verde, and earthen-village houses of the plains, I would highlight the complex matrilineal property rights and parenting restrictions also inherent in Native American cultures. I would draw special attention to the politics of marriage and kinship ties, the practice of rearing children and caring for the elderly, and the hierarchy of villages and mother towns that draw populations together as allies in time of war fare. Within this first section, I would also offer a brief rendition of mythology and creationism, and assert that Native Americans possess the collective rights of indigenous peoples in the continent of North America. I would parallel Marshall’s argument that â€Å"first† is not the pivotal word in discerning indigenism, but the word â€Å"always:" Native Americans claim to have always inhabited the continent and I would offer my support of their claim. Furthermore, I would discuss the politics of "indigenous survival," and emphasize the gravity of cultural depravity through economic exploitation and usurption of resources: I would demand that history be remembered. The second movement I would emphasize is the four centuries of European conquest and colonialism.
